Aurora Replays

Aurora Replays are short, downloadable videos showing the natural motion of auroras using time-lapse digital photography. Created by James Pugsley of Yellowknife, Canada, this footage is used to track geomagnetic activity in Earth's upper atmosphere. These low resolution videos have been donated to Astronomy North by the photographer and are free to download. We ask that you do not modify these videos in any way. For more information or to request a high resolution copy of an Aurora Replay for educational purposes, e-mail your name, telephone number, organization and how the video will be used to info@astronomynorth.com.

Aurora Forecast

The Yellowknife Aurora Forecast is provided for the community of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories by the volunteers at Astronomy North. Using information that is available online combined with local knowledge of the northern sky, this forecast remains the only community-specific aurora forecast in the world. Our objective is to continue providing this service as a way of enhancing our community's connection the aurora borealis.
